#VINTAGE ARTLEY FLUTE VALUE SERIAL#
Re: Vintage Artley Flute Serial question 13:43 on Saturday, May 19, 2007. That would make year of manufacture 1963-4. That serial is probably the top half of an 8. A great investment as well as a great instrument for the beginning to intermediate flute player. Vintage Artley Model 5-0 Flute-Solid Silver Head-Overhauled-Rich Tone Used Excellent. Re: Vintage Artley Flute Serial question 12:11 on Saturday, May 19, 2007. Comes with a replacement French flute case and vinyl case cover in perfect condition. Silver finish, tested and all the keys work. It plays beautifully with a big rich tone, (a tone you can only get using these older USA made instruments). Good quality Artley flute that their website tells me dates from 1976. Mechanically this flute is in excellent condition.
#VINTAGE ARTLEY FLUTE VALUE SKIN#
Just completely polished, cleaned thoroughly, and overhauled using double skin treated pads and all new corks and felts.
There are a few minor scuffs and scratches from normal use. It's an Artley Model which is open hole, C-foot and has a solid silver headjoint. IMO, the older (pre-69 ) Artley flutes were actually pretty good. In 1980, Conn was sold and the Artley plant soon moved back to Elkhart, Indiana. During that period, quality dropped and that's where the 'bad rep' comes from. This flute dates from the heyday of band instrument manufacture in the USA, about 30 to 40 years ago. In the 70's, Conn moved the Artley plant from Elkhart, Indiana to Nogales Arizona to cut manufacturing costs. Like you, I learned to play flute on an old Artley and it served me well. Most are high quality American made band instruments which were made to last forever. The 1981 model was 1200.00 then 999.00 and the 1950s model 900.00 though I dont believe I wish one this vintage Have heard Artley pads are a nusiance to deal with and have also heard older models are better. We're selling off some of the surplus of our school rental program. Watch this gear and well notify you if it becomes available again. This superb instrument was just overhauled with all newdouble skin treated pads, new corks and felts pads by our Susan E. It looks like that piece of gear is gone.
